Bring your domain and manage it alongside your services
Transfer your .ec or international domains to Registro Digital with a clear process: you check the requirements, enter the authorization code and we handle the change with the registry.
- USD 0 transfer: you only pay the 1-year renewal
- Your EPP code is stored encrypted and deleted once used
- Domains, DNS, email and hosting in one panel
We'll ask you to sign in or create your account; then you enter the EPP code and see the total (1-year renewal) before paying.
What you gain by bringing your domain
Your domain lives in the same account as your hosting, email and certificates, with support in Ecuador.
Everything in one panel
See your domains, expiry dates, renewals, hosting, email and invoices from your customer panel.
Managed DNS
Manage your domain's DNS records from the panel, on the Cloudflare network.
Domain protection
Optional add-on: transfer lock at the registry, an e-mailed code to unlock or change DNS, and change alerts.
Expiry reminders
We e-mail you before your domain expires and you can renew it from the panel.
WHOIS privacy
Free WHOIS protection on the extensions that allow it.
No lock-in
If you ever want to move it away, you get the transfer code from the panel, with an e-mail verification.
How the transfer works
The process follows each registry's rules (ICANN for generic domains and NIC.ec for .ec).
Prepare the domain
At your current registrar, turn off the transfer lock and request the authorization (EPP) code.
Enter it in the panel
Type the domain and the EPP code. You'll see the total before paying: the 1-year renewal.
Pay online
Once payment is confirmed, we send the request to the registry with your code, which is then deleted.
Approve and done
If your previous registrar asks you to confirm by e-mail, approve it. The domain shows up in your panel when it's done.
Before you start, check this
Most failed transfers come down to one of these points.
- The domain unlocked at your current registrar
- A valid authorization code (EPP or Auth code)
- Access to the domain owner's e-mail
- More than 60 days since registration or the last transfer
- The domain must not be expired or in its redemption period
- An active transfer lock or a wrong EPP code
- A registration, owner change or transfer less than 60 days old
- An open dispute or suspension at the previous registrar
Transfer conditions
What you should know about price, timing and scope before you start.
USD 0 transfer
We don't charge to transfer. To complete the transfer, the registry requires renewing the domain for 1 year, and that's the cost: the renewal price in the table, in US dollars and excluding VAT (added at checkout).
The year is added
The renewal year is added to the current expiry date: you don't lose the time you had already paid for. Only on .online and .store does the registry charge more to transfer than to renew; the surcharge is shown there.
Payment first
The request is sent to the registry only after the order payment is confirmed.
Timing
It usually takes 5 to 7 days; it can be sooner if the previous registrar approves quickly, or longer if it is slow to release the domain.
Only the domain
Only the domain registration is transferred. The previous provider's hosting, email or site builder don't move on their own.
Manual review
If the domain already belongs to another account or the amount paid doesn't match, the request is held for review and we contact you.
How we protect your domain
The authorization code is the key to your domain. This is how we look after it during and after the transfer.
Encrypted EPP code
It's stored encrypted in your account, isn't included in the order and is deleted as soon as it's sent to the registry.
Payment and ownership verified
Before sending the request we check the payment and that the domain doesn't belong to another account.
E-mail verification
To get the transfer code of a domain already with us we ask for a 6-digit code sent to your e-mail, valid for 15 minutes and single-use.
Lock and alerts
With Domain Protection, the transfer lock is applied once the transfer completes and you get e-mail alerts on lock, DNS or contact changes.
What you pay to transfer
The transfer is USD 0. The total is the mandatory 1-year renewal, added to the domain's current expiry date.

What happens to your website and email?
They stay where they are
The transfer changes the registrar. Keep your current DNS servers and your site and email will stay with your hosting provider.
Want to move the site too?
Get a Cloud Hosting plan and we'll help you migrate your site, databases and email.
Several domains?
Add each domain with its code from the panel, or write to us and we'll coordinate a batch transfer.
Domain transfer FAQ
The most common questions when bringing a domain.
What is the EPP code and where do I get it?
It's a unique password (also called Auth code or authorization code) that protects your domain against unauthorized transfers. You request it from your current registrar, usually in its panel or through its support.
How long does the transfer take?
It usually takes 5 to 7 days. It can finish sooner if the previous registrar approves it quickly; some take longer to release the domain.
Will my website stop working?
It shouldn't. The transfer changes the registrar, not your hosting. Keep your current DNS servers during the process. If your DNS is provided by the previous registrar, export your records before closing that account, or move them to our DNS.
How much does it cost and do I lose the time I had left?
The transfer costs USD 0; you only pay the mandatory 1-year renewal, which is added to the current expiry date. If your domain expires in 6 months, it will then expire in 1 year and 6 months.
Why did my transfer fail?
The usual causes are: the domain is still locked, the EPP code is wrong or expired, the domain is less than 60 days past its registration or last transfer, or the owner didn't approve the confirmation e-mail.
Can I transfer a .ec domain?
Yes. .ec domains are handled with NIC.ec and follow the same rule: USD 0 transfer plus a 1-year renewal at the price in the table.
Can I move my domain away later?
Yes. From your panel you get the transfer code after an e-mail verification; the domain is unlocked so you can use it at the new registrar.
Do I need an account to transfer?
Yes. The transfer starts from your customer panel; if you don't have an account yet, you create it in the same step.
